The Voice Did Not Sound Genuine, Something About the Entire Call Felt Suspicious: Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal
Chabbewal Reaches Out to SSP Hoshiarpur for Investigation Into Call, Says AAP Leaders Will Not Be Intimidated by Political Pressure Tactics
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP from Hoshiarpur Raj Kumar Chabbewal on Thursday raised serious concerns over a suspicious phone call allegedly made in the name of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and demanded a thorough investigation into the matter. Dr. Chabbewal termed the incident highly questionable and said such tactics reflect the dirty and desperate politics being played against AAP leaders.
In a statement, Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal said that since it was his birthday, he had been receiving numerous calls from morning onwards. During this period, he received a peculiar phone call around 8:45 AM. He said the caller initially asked him “Is it AAP MP Dr. Raj Kumar Chabbewal ji speaking?” to which he responded by confirming his identity.
Dr. Chabbewal stated that the caller then said, “Union Home Minister Amit Shah ji wants to speak to you.” He replied that the call could be connected. Shortly after, another voice came on the line wishing him warmly on his birthday and congratulating him. The caller then reportedly asked about his whereabouts. When Dr. Chabbewal informed him that he was in Hoshiarpur in his Lok Sabha constituency, the caller told him, “Whenever you come to Delhi, make sure you meet me.”
Dr. Chabbewal said that although the conversation appeared normal on the surface, several aspects of the call immediately raised suspicion in his mind. He pointed out that calls from the Union Home Ministry generally come from official landline numbers, whereas this call came from an unusual number. He further stated that even the voice claiming to be that of the Home Minister did not sound authentic to him.
“From the very beginning, something about the call felt unusual and suspicious. The voice did not sound genuine and the entire sequence appeared questionable,” Dr. Chabbewal said.
The AAP MP said that considering the seriousness of the matter, he has formally approached the SSP Hoshiarpur and requested a detailed investigation into the call. He demanded that the origin, intent and individuals behind the suspicious communication be identified.
Dr. Chabbewal said such incidents expose the kind of backdoor politics and pressure tactics being used against opposition leaders in the country. He stated that AAP leaders will neither be intimidated nor trapped by such dubious methods.
He further said that if anyone is trying to misuse the name of constitutional authorities or senior leaders for political maneuvering, then it is an extremely serious issue and must be investigated.
