On the occasion of the 556th Gurpurab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, a large number of devotees offered prayers at the Golden Temple. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, along with his family, also visited the holy shrine to pay obeisance.
Speaking to the media, the Chief Minister reiterated the demand for the reopening of the Kartarpur Corridor, which leads to the historic shrine in Pakistan where Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent the later years of his life.
He questioned why the corridor remains closed when there is no restriction on cricket matches being played between India and Pakistan.
Mann urged the Union Home Ministry to immediately begin the process of reopening the corridor in view of the sentiments of the devotees. He added that devotees could visit Kartarpur Sahib and return within just a few hours, and with Sikh jathas already traveling to Pakistan, there is no logical reason for the corridor to remain shut.
The Chief Minister prayed for peace, prosperity, and the well-being of all, saying: “May there be development in Punjab and ‘Sarbat da Bhalla’.”
