In a move set to transform industrial development in Punjab, the AAP-led state government on Tuesday launched the ‘Punjab Udyog Kranti’ initiative, positioning it as India’s first of its kind to fast-track and simplify the process of setting up new industries.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal jointly launched the ‘Fastrack Punjab’ portal under this initiative, ensuring that all statutory permissions and compliances will be granted within 45 days of application. If not, a “deemed approval certificate” will automatically be issued on the 46th day — enabling businesses to begin operations without delay.
Kejriwal emphasized strict accountability, warning that officials responsible for delays will face internal investigations. He also announced:
-
Investment proposals up to ₹200 crore (including plant, machinery, land, and construction) won’t need any prior permission.
-
Site and building plan approvals will be decentralized through empanelled architects and civil engineers, eliminating the need to approach government offices.
-
The portal will act as a genuine single-window clearance platform — with the Chief Minister’s office and Chief Secretary directly monitoring its functioning.
The initiative aims to cut red-tape, eliminate corruption, and streamline business setup, sending a strong pro-investment message to entrepreneurs and industries looking to invest in Punjab.
This bold industrial reform follows the government’s education initiative ‘Sikhiya’, reinforcing the AAP government’s focus on development, transparency, and ease of doing business.
